This gallery is all about natural flora and fauna. Quite a broad category and with my love of the outdoors, I hope I can make it varied enough.
Renovamen
Crocus flowers in Warwick signalling the arrival of spring. The title is Latin for "rebirth".
Bursting Into Life
I have no idea what this is but it made up a hedge of considerable size.
Winter Branches
Snow on the branches in Worcestershire.
Throught the Cracks
It's amazing how life can survive and even flourish with just the smallest of chances.
Petals
Rain drops on the petals of a rose. I'm sick of the rain but it does make for good photographs.
Dawn Flight
Canada Geese take flight very early in the morning.
Tiny Forest
It seems to have been raining here for days. In a short lapse in the downpour I discovered that the damp has sent growth of Fungi crazy. These were tiny but everywhere.
Ivy Fence
Opposite but complimentary colouring and I shot to emphasise the grain in the wood.
Puppy Love
This is Koda, my daughter's six week old Rough Collie/Husky cross, enjoying a cuddle.
Cuddles
Our dog recently gave birth to nine of these little bundles. Great photo fodder.
Crested Grebe
Mummy Grebe sits on her floating nest keeping her single egg warm.
Feeding Friends
A pair of Blue Tits feeding outside the window.
Forest Sunlight
Greatly enhanced with Photoshop but tremendous fun to do. There were no actual sunbeams, they were my creation.
Lichen
A very cold but beautiful winter morning can produce some wonderful colours.
Wild Meadow
Some wild flowers growing in a meadow. Corn chamomile, Corn cockle, Cornflower, Corn marigold and the Common poppy. All sown as part of a project in Cripplegate Park in Worcester.
White Carpet
The woodland floor was covered with these tiny white flowers.
Rooftop Lovers
These two were very restless and kept taking off, circling and landing again. But they never left each other's side.
Bird Watching
This cheeky fellow seemed to enjoy having his picture taken.
Quay Flood
South Parade in Worcester whilst in flood. Swans paddling and pigeons in flight.
Blossom Mill
I didn't quite get Powick Mill's chimney framed by this tree. I may have to revisit this one when I have more time.
House Plant
I loved the colour cominbation of the plant, wall and carpet. Shame the plant is looking a little weary.
Rhododendron
I came across this spectacular tree in the grounds of Wells House & Gardens in Co Wexford, Ireland. I didn't have the dSLR with me but my phone and a smidge of Photoshop did a grand job.
Heron
This chap was doing a spot of fishing at the weir in Worcester. I found myself watching him for quite a while.
Frozen Memories
Snow on some synthetic flowers left as a memorial for somebody. Despite the lovely colour, it struck me as terribly sad.
Spring Palette
Sometimes, the colour of spring can really take you by surprise.
Spring Fanfare
I have no idea what species this is, so please leave a comment if you can enlighten me. Taken in a Worcester park.
Hatched!
After over 40 days of waiting, the eggs belonging to the swans at work have finally hatched. Five beautiful cygnets.
Urban Swan
Light, reflection, shadow and a swan.
Oasis of Light
A pool of light breaks through a leafy canopy on a walk through the woods.
Hawthorn Rain
A droplet of rain hanging from a small branch after a thunderstorm caught my eye.
Nature's Fanfare
A close up of a rose.
Autumnal Solstice
22nd September is the first day of autumn and the day when the daylight hours once again match the hours of darkeness.
Orange Petal
A macro shot of the centre of an orange flower. I don't know what it is I'm afraid. A similar shot filled the frame but I preferred this one with a touch of blue sky.
Boo
This is our brand new (8 weeks) puppy "Boo". She is a Collie/Huntaway cross.
Show Off
Well he has every right to be doesn't he? Taken in the grounds of the Camp House at Grimley.
Canada Geese
Pre-flight checks are underway.
Roots
The roots of this ancient tree are just so impressive looking.
Wild Cherry
I think this is wild cherry blossom, although it might be wild plum. Leave a comment if you know. Taken on Pitchcroft.
Forget Me Not
I didn't quite manage to capture the dew properly. It's a learning curve.
Spring Forth
A crocus I think. Taken in Cripplegate Park.
Autumn Flavours
Beautiful colours chosen especially for this section of the arboretum.
Take to the Air
Not quite quick enough with the shutter speed.
Dead Fir
Its a shame that this fir tree was dead but the colours were too good to pass up on.
Into the Woods
Wyre Forest
Ancient Forest
A Victorian walled garden that was abandoned long ago is great place to explore. These apple trees almost look pre-historic.
Drops of Life
Raindrops on blossoms.
