Photography and Mental Health are closely linked for me. It has been such a long time since I have posted a video and this is down to my poor mental health. A common sign is that hobbies or tasks that you normally enjoy, often become a chore and you procrastinate until they become impossible. This is true of me and photography and making videos. I apologise and in this video, I try to explain.

Hopefully this answers some questions but please comment if you have any insight or feedback for me.

There is also an APX 100 version. All in all this is a great film for the beginner and experienced alike. It offers good contrast and good resolution with relatively little grain. With film prices being what they are, it is nice to have a reliable film, that can give Ilford HP5 Plus a run, at an affordable price.

With no built-in metering, you will need to either learn to judge for yourself or make use of a separate meter. But don’t let that put you off.
For the first in a series of photographic film reviews, I have chosen the very distinctive look of Cinestill 800T. An ISO of 800 makes it great for night or low light shooting. But unlike others, Cinestill is based on movie stock and is tungsten colour balanced to give a very cinematic look. Also, because the so called “remjet” layer is missing from the film’s emulsion, you get a halation effect around bright light sources. However there is nothing to stop you using this film during the day but perhaps pull the film to around 660 for best results. Pushing is also very achievable up to around 1600 in low light. All in all, one of my favourite film stocks to use.

Hopefully I’ll feature your favourite film in the next video.

I once made a video on how to load 35mm film in to a camera. It did not occur to me that I should do the same for 120 film. But as a subscriber to my YouTube channel asked about it, here it is. 120 film, just like 35mm, has many varied cameras but on the whole the process will be the same as that featured. The fact that you don’t rewind 120 film after you’re done, seems to be the big point of confusion for beginners.

I hope the video is of use to some of you.
