My future grandson is not even born but already has his first camera. This wooden beauty was bought by his mum and is hopefully tough enough to stand the rigours of teething etc. I can’t wait until he’s older and I can introduce him to the joy of film. It will be coming full circle for me. My father got me in to photography in the first place and although he has since passed away, it’s his birthday today. I think of him every time I pick up a camera and it would be nice to give junior that same feeling. Until then, this is a lovely start.
The Parallax Effect is phenomena that can spoil your photographs, but what is it exactly and can it be overcome? In my latest short video I hope to answer these questions. It does not affect Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras as we are looking through the taking lens. But with point and shoot and other types of camera, we don’t always see what the camera sees. If our point of focus is relatively close, this can mean a missed opportunity. Luckily most manufacturers have our back.
This week my YoutTube channel reached over 300 subscribers and over 50,000 views which is absolutely mind-blowing to me. A huge thank you to all of you.
I am no artist, but I do occasionally like to sketch. I recently bought a graphics tablet and although it takes a little getting used to, I really like it. I’m pleased with a sketch of a camera I did, intentionally rough as a style. So I have added it as a new design for a t-shirt in my merch store. It’s available in several sizes and colours. I hope you like it.
I will be adding more items and different artwork over time, and so if there is anything that you’d particularly like to see, please get in touch. In the meantime, hurry and get something before I go mainstream and less cool. 😂
Over the last few days I have been making some updates to the site. Some SEO stuff to keep up with Google’s policies. I have also added a new page that showcases my vintage camera collection. This in turn means I could remove some large photos off the home page, which were causing it to load a little slowly. Finally I have added some localisation information, again for the benefit of some search engines.
I’m afraid that a lot of this won’t be noticed by most of you, but hopefully it will help to make the site a bit more visible. In the meantime, I have about eight more YouTube videos in various stages of production, so look out for those soon. Please help me get to 100 subscribers if you haven’t already.
